Personal Thoughts:
The Greg Martin '58 Les Paul Reissue is an absolute tone machine, and this Collector's Choice #15 model is one of Gibson’s finest recreations of an original vintage Burst. It’s modeled after Greg Martin’s beloved 1958 Les Paul Standard, known for its rich, dynamic tone and stunning Dirty Lemon finish.
The first thing you notice? The top. This one has a beautifully figured maple top, with a subtle but striking flame that looks vintage and authentic—not over-the-top, just pure vintage class. The Dirty Lemon finish has aged beautifully, with Gibson’s Custom Shop aging process giving it the look and feel of a well-loved and well-played original '58 Burst.
The unweight-relieved mahogany body adds serious sustain and resonance, and when you combine that with the unbelievably responsive Custom Bucker pickups, you get everything from warm, bluesy neck tones to snarling, biting bridge aggression. The unpotted design means these pickups have incredible airiness and touch sensitivity, reacting beautifully to dynamic playing. This is the kind of guitar that makes you want to plug straight into a cranked amp and let your fingers do the work.
The '50s rounded neck profile is substantial without being overwhelming, giving you that authentic late-'50s Gibson feel that just fits in the hands perfectly. The rosewood fingerboard is smooth, resonant, and beautifully dark, completing the vintage aesthetic. The hand-wired CTS pots and Bumblebee caps allow for incredibly usable volume and tone roll-offs, making this a true player’s Les Paul.
If you're after one of the best late-'50s reissues Gibson has ever made, this Greg Martin CC #15 is an absolute dream.
Condition Report:
This Gibson Collector’s Choice #15 Greg Martin '58 Les Paul Reissue is in excellent condition, with no significant dings, chips, or modifications beyond the factory-applied aging process. The Dirty Lemon finish has beautifully maintained its character, with light lacquer checking, subtle wear, and an authentically aged patina straight from Gibson’s Custom Shop.
The frets are in fantastic shape, with no major signs of wear and a smooth, well-played feel. The hardware has aged naturally, in line with Gibson’s Custom Shop relic work, with no additional tarnishing beyond what was intended. All electronics function perfectly, with zero noise, smooth volume/tone controls, and a crisp 3-way switch.
This guitar comes complete with its original Gibson Custom Shop Lifton-style case, COA, and all case candy, making it an exceptional collector’s piece as well as a serious player’s guitar. If you’re after a Les Paul that nails vintage tone, feel, and aesthetics, while also being one of the most sought-after Collector’s Choice models, this Greg Martin '58 Reissue is one you don’t want to miss.
